Writer's Block: Random Story Idea #1

Welcome to Writer's Block

A place where I give random ideas I come up with, but don't have the time, motivation or knowledge to develop it further, so it basically becomes free domain for anyone to use and make it a reality. Feel free to make changes where you see fit to suit whatever story you want to tell.


All I ask is for some basic credit!

Title: I Woke Up As A Steam Girl!


Sebastian is a steam locomotive engineer who intends to preserve knowledge about them and has ideas on how they can be improved, but everyone usually brushes him aside, some even calling him crazy.

He has a best friend, Caroline, who runs the social media page for a shop and tells him it can be an effective tool to spread his ideas and beliefs, but he consistently brushes it aside, as he thinks it's silly. 

One day however, he wakes up as a cute girl! He checks all over, no sign of his 'old body' anywhere. After taking some time off to get used to it, he tells Caroline about this and with a bunch of arguing and convincing, Sebastian decides to use his new form to showcase his knowledge via social media. Slowly but surely, with consistent posting and engaging content, they amass a decent following and recruit people within the town and even far away to restore various locomotives and even make substantial improvements in the process too!

However, one of Sebastian's rivals in the business, Alex, is disappointed in this, as he sees what she and Caroline are doing as 'degrading' steam, attempting to sell it to lonely men with no life, who are doing it merely to be with her. This creates some mental conflict within Sebastian, who has to wrestle with these thoughts, her own self identity and of course, other people's advances on her.

Apart from that, I literally don't know where to go, so anything apart from this is entirely up to you! Just make sure it isn't too cheesy or over the top. If you are in the trans community, feel free to put your own spin on it to make Sebastian's feelings as accurate as possible. 

BUT, keep the main focus on the magic of steam and the engineering behind it. You don't have to go too technical if you don't want to, but PLEASE keep the romance minimal, don't let it take up the mass chunk of the story. 

Oh yeah, and if you want, add a villain too. Alex in the early stages could be one, but have a larger threat behind him if he does learn to accept what Sebastian is doing or even embraces it. 

So yeah, do credit me if you do decide to use this.

  D3 639's First Mainline Run in Nearly 4 Years! | Steamrail Victoria's D3 639 Test Runs A Brief History The land Down Under has a rich and varied railway history that's often overlooked. Each state certainly has unique stories throughout their history. Today, the topic of discussion is one of a locomotive from the proud state of Victoria.  Victoria has the honour of being the first state in Australia to open a steam-powered railway, It ran from Melbourne's Flinders Street to the gold mines of Sandridge, a distance of about 4 km. This literally laid the foundation for railways in the entire state and beyond, as the 'standard' rail gauge of the Victorian Railways, 5 ft 3 inches or 'Irish Gauge', was derived from this railway.
